I admit I didn't do much research, I just "flew" over it on google earth to get the lay of the land, studied the weather patterns, and launched. And yes the weather can be fierce out there. Anywhere in Utah really. I had my most severe weather ever at Deer Creek once, with no warning at all, all of a sudden a micro burst came over and knocked us all down and howled for hours! S&R spent the next several hours rescuing boaters from the frigid June waters. Any boater anywhere should certainly be aware of the risks of possible ferocious weather. Hope to meet you out there some day.xxxhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08464452274060223050noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2635294478207383601.post-78200463888748938432014-10-15T12:45:45.580-07:002014-10-15T12:45:45.580-07:00Sounds like a great adventure. I’ve done most of what you’ve done but it took me 30 years rather than a week like you did.

I don’t know how public your blog site is but I think if people are reading it and thinking of following in your foot steps that you should mention a few things like that Freemont Island is private. Last year it was turned in to a private hunting preserve with guys running around shooting at wild imported boars. Not the kind of place one should be encouraging people to go walking.

Also you said you camped on Antelope Island. The West side is closed to camping. This is not just some arbitrary rule. The West shore of the island is being preserved for wildlife. There has been talk of making a sail in camp at Indian Cove but to the best of knowledge this has not happened.

Of course I must confess I’ve done exactly the same illegal things you did. But I think when you tell the world you have to be somewhat responsible.

And one final note. A number of people over the years have died doing what you did. I also most died when a storm blew me onto Miller Point. The Lake can be a very dangerous place. And it might not hurt to remind people of that fact.
Anyway glad you had such a great adventure. I often sail over to Stansbury Island late at night alone. And as I look behind me and realize that I’m looking at a million people I’m just blown away that I’m the only one out there enjoying this incredible lake.
Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17150469765742160225noreply@blogger.com
